After careful consideration from the Admin team, we have decided a set plan on how to fairly move forward with the Inaugural year FYPD. The first year of a dynasty is always tricky when assessing how to implement future year drafts and we took our time to go through this process. Many of you are also anxious for this draft as well.
For 2019 the FYPD will consist of a lottery for all teams (1-30) using the same - stattrek.com/statistics/random-number-generator.aspx - in order to fairly give everyone a chance at getting good prospects. The original plan was to have the draft in August, and it would be based on this years standings (with 1-5 lottery) to allow bad teams to gain good prospects. The caveat here was that the same rules applied for next years (2020 FYPD), meaning that the final standings from this year would affect not 1 but 2 drafts, and that is something that wouldn’t work out.
So to review the process for this year and going forward –
2019 FYPD (random order and snake draft)
2020 FYPD will be based on 2019 final standings (1-5 lottery and fixed draft)
This will set the foundation of the league going forward and not allow bad teams to reap benefits for 2 years. Going forward we will always be using previous year final standings, 1-5 Lottery, and a Fixed Draft.
In addition, we will be hosting the LIVE Lottery for this years FYPD (2019) on Monday June 10th at 8 PM est via a Zoom link, like we did for the Inaugural draft. This years FYPD will start on Thursday June 20th at 12 PM est.
Also remember we will be doing a 2 round Rule V in November based on this years final standings with a lottery system broken down by 1-18 (non-playoff teams) and 19-30 (playoff teams).
